Doctor Terry McGuire, Pastor Terry McGuire, his wife Linda and mother-in-law Joan Underwood have moved to the parsonage and Dr. McGuire will begin preaching on July3rd. Linda and Terry have been in ministry for the past 36 years. Terry was called into ministry during his senior year at Fort Hays. He and Linda were married that spring. After a year of teaching industrial arts at Royal Valley High School in Hoyt, Kansas, they went to Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. In 1975, he was appointed to his first charge at Morganville and Linn, Kansas. In 1979, they went to Asbury in Wichita as the assoiate pastor for five years. While at Asbury, he earned a Doctorate from McCormick School of Theology in Chicago. In 1984, they were appointed to Smith Center where they served until their appointment in Medicine Lodge in 1990 where they pastored for three years. In 1993, they were moved to Cheney for 9 years. In 2001, the bishop sent them to Atwood. Six years later they went to Russell and are now at home in Anthony. They have three children who are all married and live in the Wichita area. They have four grandchildren (6 years old and younger). Jason and Shea have a very determined Aryanna (14 months). Laura and Brad have vivacious Tenely (6) and playful Bryson (19 months). Melissa and Alex have happy Gabriel (7months). The McGuires have a great time while the grandchildren are at their house, but they understand now why God gave children to young adults. They enjoy them while they are with them, but do rest easier when they send them home. Joan, Linda's mother, came to live with them in 2002 when they moved to Atwood. She moved from her home in South Hutchinson where she lived for over 50 years. Linda's father was a carpenter and house builder. Floyd passed away in 1997. Reverend McGuire says, "Jesus has blessed us over the years through the churches we have served. We pray that God's blessing will be with all of us in our ministry together here in Anthony. We look forward to meeting you."
Connie moved to Harper from Ellinwood, KS in 1979. She raised her two sons Doug and Richard Boese in Harper. Doug resides in Danville, KS and Richard resides in Harper, KS. Connie has eight grandchildren. Connie married Larry Netahla in 1986. She helps him with the farm work when needed. Connie worked with Texaco Inc. for 11 years and First National Bank of Anthony for 13 plus years. Since April 2006 Connie works as secretary for Anthony United Methodist Church.
Harold & Margie Seipel, custodians Margie Seipel has been church custodian for the Anthony United Methodist Church since March 1985. She is married to Harold Seipel and they have four children. Brenda Batterton of Winnsboro, Louisiana; Jim Seipel of Anthony, Kansas; Marty Seipel of Garden Plain, Kansas, and Janett Ballard of Anthony, Kansas. The Seipel's have 19 grandchildren.
